MEXT 2026: how our students did in the embassy round

Eleven official MEXT 2026 lists and emails from our students, from document screening to the written exam, and what they say helped them.

The MEXT 2026 scholarship is for students who start in Japan in 2026. Its embassy round in India ran in 2025, and our Future’s Scholar FS27 students and webinar attendees sent us their results as they came in.

What the official lists show

Students shared 11 official MEXT 2026 lists and emails with their own names on them:

  • Document screening lists: Sankalp Mahajan, Aryan Raghav, Vansh and Tomojit Roy.
  • Undergraduate written exam: Priyam Kashyap Medhi (Natural Science A, Information Engineering), and Raghav, called for the written examination on 28 June 2025 in Chennai.
  • Specialized Training College lists: Riya Singh, Bharati Krishna Ashok and Raihan MD Masrafi (Business).
  • Social Science B list: Bhavesh Dev Mishra.
  • One more student received the email shortlisting them for the written examination (Undergraduate, College of Technology and Specialized Training).

Many more told us on Discord, WhatsApp and Instagram that they had cleared document screening or been called for the written exam. Every screenshot is on our student reviews page.

In their words

“I got short listed in document screening. It’s all thanks to @Adi bhaiya and this community which always made me push past my limits.”
Riya Singh

“I am extremely happy to share that I have been selected for the MEXT written exam.”
Aryan Raghav

“These were real people who got selected, so I knew whom to follow and maybe that made the biggest difference.”

What helped them

Reading their messages, the same few things come up again and again:

  1. Getting the application right. Several students credit the webinar on filling in the MEXT application. One wrote that before it they had no clue how to complete it.
  2. Detail. FS27 students mention modules that covered the small points many applicants miss.
  3. Learning from scholars who were selected before. Real past applications beat generic advice.
  4. A community. Watching others work hard on the same goal kept people going.

Applying for MEXT 2028?

The 2027 embassy round closed in May 2026, so the next round in India is for MEXT 2028, expected to open around April 2027. Read MEXT 2027: dates and the next round for what to do before it opens, and see Future’s Scholar FS28 for 12 months of guidance through it.
